# Only your deposit counts

## Only your deposit counts as weight

A short but important rule. When the referee weighs the two sides, it counts **only what you deposited**, never what the ladder has grown it into.

If you staked 10,000 REIN and Reflection has grown it to 25,000, your weight in the round is still 10,000.

Without this rule the Reflection side would grow its own voting power every round and the game would be decided forever within a couple of weeks. With it, the race stays open. A side can lose its majority whenever people move, no matter how long it has been winning.
