# Stake early
## Stake early: weight is measured in seconds
Here is a rule that decides more rounds than any other. **Your weight is not how many tokens you hold. It is how many tokens you hold, multiplied by how long you held them during the round.**
So a small position held from the start beats a large position that jumps in at the end. Ten thousand tokens held for the whole round outweigh a hundred thousand tokens held for five minutes.
### What that means for you
* The best time to stake is the start of a round. Every hour you wait is weight you give up
* Watching the standings and diving in at the last second gets you almost nothing. To be counted when a side wins, you have to already be standing there
* A position that is already staked carries full weight in every round automatically. You do not have to do anything each round

This is also why no bot can snipe a round. A loan taken and repaid inside one block is held for zero seconds and therefore counts for zero. Not blocked, just worthless.
